View this email in your browser   The 2017 NRA Convention was held in Atlanta, GA. By the time you read this, the convention will be wrapping up. Lots of new products were debuted by various companies in the Firearms Industry. President Trump also stopped by the convention and gave a nice speech. The first president since Reagan to attend. (Payment is full is required to reserve a spot)     GUN LAWS   The following Arizona pro-rights bills are still in process or have been signed into law- http://www.azcdl.org/html/bill_tracking.html SB1344: would clarify that state and local governments cannot regulate the possession of weapons by employees or contractors in or on property or vehicles owned by the employee or contractor, was signed by the Governor on April 12th HB2216: which would make it illegal to track firearms or their owners via electronic systems, databases, etc., was signed by the Governor on April 18th. HB2244: requires strict compliance with Constitutional and statutory ballot measure petition gathering requirements, was signed by the Governor on April 14th. SB1122: which would prohibit the search of any federal or state databases as a requirement for transferring personal property (such as firearms), was sent to the Governor for his signature on April 26th.     GUN LAWS Continued...   Springfield Armory,  Rock River Arms  Trade Opposition to Illinois FFL Licensing Scheme for Carve-Out   The Illinois State Senate passed bill SB-1657 by a one-vote margin. While its prospects are still unsure in the House, if signed by Governor Bruce Rauner, the new law will mandate state licensing for all Illinois gun dealers. It will also restrict all others in Illinois to nine firearm transfers per year. Read more about it HERE.     GUN OF THE MONTH Colt Python .357 magnum (Manufactured in 1967) History The Colt Python was first introduced in 1955 as Colt's top-of-the-line model and was originally intended to be a large-frame 38 Special target revolver. As a result, it features precision adjustable sights, a smooth trigger, solid construction, and extra metal. Pythons have a distinct appearance due to a full barrel underlug, ventilated rib and adjustable sights. Originally, Colt manufactured Pythons with hollow underlugs but left them solid to work as a stabilizing barrel weight. When the revolver is at full cock, just as the trigger is pressed, the cylinder locks up for the duration of the hammer strike. Other revolvers have a hint of looseness even at full-cock. The gap between the cylinder and forcing cone is very tight, further aiding accuracy and velocity. Starting in the 1970s each Python revolver was boresighted at the factory with a laser and was the first mass-produced revolver to do so.   End of Production In October 1999, Colt Manufacturing Co. announced the termination of its production of Python revolvers. In a 2000 follow-up letter to distributors, the company cited changing market conditions and the costs of defending lawsuits as the reasons for the discontinuation of the Python line as well as a number of other models. The Colt Custom Gun Shop continued making a limited number of Pythons on special order until 2005, when even this limited production was terminated.
