Well, 2016 sure was a crazy year! We made it through the elections. With a Republican majority in the House & Senate, and with Trump as President, 2017 looks to be a good year for gun owners! Nationwide CCW Reciprocity is on the horizon as well as passage of the Hearing Protection Act. For the first time ever, the NRA is going on the offensive. Hopefully we can see some gunlaws on the books get repealed.

H.R.3799 - Hearing Protection Act of 2015 http://americansuppressorassociation.com/hearing-protection-act/ Hearing Protection Act of 2015 This bill amends the Internal Revenue Code to: (1) eliminate the $200 transfer tax on firearm silencers, and (2) treat any person who acquires or possesses a firearm silencer as meeting any registration or licensing requirements of the National Firearms Act with respect to such silencer. Any person who pays a tax on a silencer after October 22, 2015 may receive a refund of such tax. The bill amends the federal criminal code to preempt state or local laws that tax or regulate firearm silencers. This bill has a high probability of passing given the Republican majority in the House, Senate and with Trump as President. Don't wait until it passes to buy a suppressor though. The way things work in our government, it might still be a few years before it is voted on and approved.

We get tons of questions everyday concerning AR's so we decided to start a series of tech articles covering the majority of questions we have been asked over the years. The number one most asked question we get is, "what is the difference between that inexpensive model and the way more expensive one? The simple answer is quality. The more complex answer will likely take a few newsletters to explain.
At one time there was only what we call the ABC's of the AR world. Armalite, Bushmaster, & Colt. Now there are 100's of different AR manufacturers making every barrel length and configuration imaginable. With all these choices it can be a bit confusing as to which brand you should buy. Well, we are going to help you wade through the sea of AR's and determine which one is right for you.
To start with, higher quality materials, more Quality Control Inspectors, higher standards, tighter tolerances all cost more money. Now just because the rifle costs more, doesn't necessarily mean it's better. We'll break down the main features that affect quality and what to look for when you are searching for your next AR.
If you've been in our store asking about AR's you've probably heard us mention different "Tiers" of Manufacturers. We break down all AR manufacturers into 3 Tiers; Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 with Tier 1 being the high end and Tier 3 being the bottom of the barrel, quality wise. Tier 1 has the highest quality control, highest quality parts, and generally costs more than the other Tiers. Lets get into Tier 1 first.
